Working with the table and calculating dives has already become second nature to you. Now you will learn computer simulation with your TC or on the PC and how to plan dives before you go on your first dive with your buddy.

With the dive plan you can calculate a deco plan for a specific maximum depth and bottom time or simulate the dive mode of your TC. This allows you to test and get to know the diving mode before your first dive.

You should check the battery charge level well before diving and, if necessary, charge the TC or change the battery. This is particularly important for a longer diving vacation.

During each dive, your TC records a series of data about the dive, which you can access in the logbook. Depending on the TC, the logbook memory offers space for over 200 dives with a total length of approx. 500 to 1000 hours. 
The exact number depends on the total data size. If the memory is completely full, the existing dives will be overwritten, starting with the oldest.

The instruction manuals for the various dive computers provide detailed information about ascent speed, safety stop and surface mode. The descent speed is displayed from 6 m/min (e.g. as -15). 
You can set up whether the ascent speed should be displayed as a graphic or in numbers in the display settings. After surfacing, most TCs display a five minute countdown. If you dive again during this time, 
the entire diving process will be saved as one dive.

Grundsätzlich solltest Du die Entscheidung treffen was Du beim Tauchen erreichen möchtest. Weiter musst Du entscheiden, wie Du den TC tragen möchtest und ob eine Halterung notwendig ist. Du solltest die Batterie selbst austauschen können oder den TC über einen Akku laden können. Besonders wichtig ist, dass Du das Display leicht ablesen kannst.
